Lefty's Chicago Pizzeria: Experience Authentic Chicago Flavors in San Diego

New favorite spot for Chicago fare! This place is a big deal - offering whole pies, or fresh and authentic deep-dish by the slice that easily rivals Lou's or Uno's right here in SoCal! So you can get a delicious Chicago dog and a fresh slice on the side if you're extra hungry. My wife ordered an Antipasto Salad which was thoroughly stacked with fresh ingredients, and generous with the meat cuts - and my son got a meatball sub which he adored. Even the fries were fresh and crisp. On the dog front, this was not a Cali-dog dressed in Chicago clothing. I had a Char-cheese dog, and this was the real deal. Freaking delicious. I'm not sure what they're doing, but I hope they never change it! If you're going to visit, arrive early, parking can take a while. Also, if you're ordering a whole pie they can take between 33-60 minutes - hence, last orders at 8pm! This place is amazing, so do NOT pass it by.

A killer place if you are missing Chicago or just want some really great pizza and food. 21 years the owner has turned out some amazing food and created a great vibe and experience for San Diego. Come check them out. Great staff great service and you won't leave hungry that is for sure.

Great place. Service was excellent. I like the vibe of the place. I had their thin crust during the Taste of Mission Hills in 2025. I did not think that their thin crust pizza was worth writing home about... but their deepdish is great! We had pepperoni and mushrooms for our toppings. Super filling pie. This is a place I would actually take visiting family members. I haven't eaten much deep dish pizza in my time, but I'd happily give this an 8.5 or 9/10 for how much I enjoyed it!

Five stars for Lefty’s Chicago Pizza. The service is always amazing, and for us Chicago transplants, it’s a true taste of home. From Italian Beef Sandwiches to Deep Dish Pizza and all the hot dogs and Polish sausages in between... this place is amazing. Owner Lauren is a wonderful human being who constantly gives back to the neighborhood. A shining example of what a restaurant can be when the people behind it truly care. Go Bears!

As a Chicago boy, this place gave me all the feels as soon as I saw that big Vienna Beef sign out front. The pizza was solid, the hot dogs on point and the atmosphere was *chefskiss* Chicago. Get here, youse are gonna like it.

Review caveat- I’ve never had the pleasure of eating Lefty’s pizza. BUT I had the best customer service experience at Lefty’s this holiday season. I wanted to get a gift card for a friend in San Diego. When I called to do this, the staff politely shared that they only had physical cards. We game planned on how to get it to my friend for the holidays. And he agreed to text when he confirmed with his boss. Well turns out the boss was Lauren, the owner. Ten minutes after I got off the phone, I got a call from Lauren and she offered to mail it to my friend to make it easier! Thirty minutes later she’d texted me a picture of the gift card with the stamped envelope. I still can’t believe how kind and generous Lauren was. Lefty’s will be my first stop when I get to San Diego.
